Hello! I'm Erica, obviously.
In case you came across this before reading the About Me section, I'll do a small introduction. I am a sports, landscape, and wildlife photographer located in Tempe, AZ. I am also an acrylic painter. I love bears, dinosaurs, cheese, and purple. I never thought of myself as a blog person. However, all of the SEO research I have done says that the most successful websites have blogs, so here I am.
I think the reason I never thought of writing a blog is because I do not think of myself as an expert. I have a BA in art, I have experience, but I am still learning. I honestly do not know if there are art experts since art is so subjective. Granted, there are individuals that are extraordinarily skilled at art, but that does not necessarily make them an expert. There are many ways to accomplish the same goal in the art world. So, I am not going to insult your intelligence by claiming to be an expert.
Instead, I am just going to share my own, personal journey with art. I will share any techniques that I try, and if they succeeded or failed. Let's be honest, as artists, a lot of what we try does not work. However, people mostly only share their successes. I understand why, but I think the failures are just as important. I also think that it is more realistic to share both. That's life. Life is messy. Life often does not go as planned. Art is the same.
My blog will cover both photography and painting. I will take you along on my photo walks. You will get to hang out with me in my art studio. You will even get to travel with me as I explore this wonderful planet on which we live! In fact, I am about to take my first vacation since 2019 in about a week. I am super stoked! I am fully vaccinated for COVID, so it is safe for me to do so. I will be heading to beautiful San Diego. I plan on visiting the wild seals and sea lions at La Jolla Cove, and I booked a whale/dolphin watching cruise! You can definitely expect some blogs about my trip.
